“This week was the pre-penultimate week of term. The week before we had found out the names of our ‘Petites’ joining reception in September and this week we all made cards with welcome messages and photos of ourselves to give to our Petites when we meet them next week. Everyone is so excited. We can all remember meeting our ‘Grandes’ before we joined reception and it doesn’t seem real that we are now almost as old as they were; time at Falkner House has flown by!
In English we made crosswords which was engaging and fun and we had a visit from Miss Gatehouse from yr1, but by far the highlight of the week came right at the end, on Friday afternoon when upper school had their sports day.
After missing out on sports day completely last year it was great to be back in the Millennium arena. Everyone enjoyed themselves, (especially year 6 who seemed to have fun dancing to the music) but without the lower school and all our parents watching, cheering, picnicking and running in the ‘Welly Boot Race’ it wasn’t the same atmosphere it usually is. Year 5 are all hoping that in 2022 we will have sports day for the whole school with all our parents there. Even so, it didn’t rain and year 5 all tried their best and had a fun but tiring afternoon!” Agnes
