On Wednesday year 5 used the helix Oxford set to experiment with the compass to draw circles. We learnt how to make a perpendicular bisector (a 90 degree angle) with and without a point. Also, we learnt how to do a 60 degree angle, 30 degree angle and a 45 degree angle.
We created a worksheet (see above) to explain how to calculate angles with a compass. Then we had to draw a diagram to show what it should look like. In summary this week in Year 5 we most enjoyed learning to use a compass to find out the different angles in different ways.
