Year 1 escaped the heat last Friday with a trip to the National Gallery to see some of the paintings they have learnt about in history of art this year. Our amazing guide Kevin explained how artists made paint 600 years ago using egg and ground down stone and we learnt why the colour blue was only used for very important people in paintings. The girls acted out some of their favourite paintings and we finished up sketching Whistlejacket (a definite class favourite!) imagining what we would put in the background if we had painted it.
