In today’s lesson, we learned how important it is to be kind with our words. We began by squeezing toothpaste out of a tube, which represented unkind words. The children then tried to put the toothpaste back in with a cotton bud, which was quite difficult and messy. This activity helped us understand that just like the toothpaste, once unkind words are said, they’re hard to take back.
We then read a story about how kind words can heal, while mean words can hurt the other person’s heart. We discussed that just as we can’t easily put the toothpaste back into the tube, we can’t always undo the hurt caused by unkind words. The lesson taught us to think carefully before speaking and to always try to choose words that are loving and kind.
