One of our Falkner House parents runs a menstrual cup charity in East Africa, the WonderCup charity.

A huge problem adolescent schoolgirl are facing on a daily basis is the fact that they can’t afford pads, hence stay at home for a week every month. World Bank estimates that 20% of adolescent schoolgirls worldwide are facing this problem, causing girls to drop out of school at an early age.

WonderCup was set up in 2016 in order to make a change, and to break the stigma surrounding menses. So far they have donated 15,000 cups to poor adolescent schoolgirls, with a vision in 2030 being to supply every girl in Kenya with a top quality cup, reusable for ever, by using medically graded silicone.

The article below explains how money is raised for this exceptionally worthwhile charity.
