This week we introduced the children to our new theme of the week ‘Transport in London’. We focused on the main forms of transport that are in themselves iconic to London; Hackney cabs, double decker red buses and over and underground trains.

The children arrived on Monday to find a bus parked in our nook under the stairs. Fun was had by all as the children took turns being the driver and the passengers, alongside Paddington Bear and a very friendly pigeon.

In a ‘portion’ of the Thames, boats sailed around and in-between the water wheel as vehicles drove over, and in some cases off, a precariously balanced bridge.

On Friday we discussed the different ways in which we all travel to Nursery. After taking turns to share our experiences, the children added their photos to a graph showing all the varied forms of transport mentioned.

A lot of red paint has been used as each class began to make buses out of large boxes. We look forward to ‘driving’ around in them next week.
