This week the first group of children shared their experiences of their weekends with Paddington. We all look forward to hearing about his next adventures!

Using the world map on the wall, we traced Paddington’s journey from ‘Darkest Peru’ to London Paddington Station. After we worked out which route was best, the children extended his travels when one asked, “What if he went to New Zealand?” By the end of the session, Paddington had travelled around the world and back to Peru, which was probably for the best as he would have been running low on Aunt Lucy’s marmalade!

Like Paddington, we too are quite partial to a sandwich! During the week the children made a ‘s’ for sandwich with their choice of spread for snack. There was of course marmalade, along with strawberry jam and Miss Kendell’s mothers honey from her beehives in Cornwall!

Throughout the week we looked at and exchanged stories of some of the iconic images we see in London. The Elizabeth tower, London eye, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, post boxes, telephone boxes, black cabs, red double decker buses, royal guards, to name but a few.
