This week we focused on the fairy tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We looked at original stories from authors like Vera Southgate and F. Rogankovsky and a few newer versions of the story such as books by Emma Chichester Clark and Gerda Muller.

We have had a creative and busy few days. Under the stairs our ‘nook’ became the bears’ home. The children thoroughly enjoyed retelling and re-enacting the original story and creating their own versions of the well-known fairy tale.

In the letter room the children furnished and refurnished the doll’s house, making a warm and inviting home for the three bears – and their uninvited guest, Goldilocks!

Three different sized bowls were cut and filled with ‘porridge’ beside drawn portraits of Goldilocks. Pictures of ‘b’ for brown bears were painted and everyone experienced the fun experiment of bouncing bubbles where we counted out how many times they could be bounced before they burst!

On Thursday 8th February we will join the school in celebrating the Lunar New Year. The children are invited to come as their animal character. We will continue the celebrations on Friday with the mothers in the morning classes coming in to share stories, fun activities and to sweep away the old, before bringing in the new year.

Reminder:

Christmas show tops: We have a few tops yet to be brought back from our December ‘23 Christmas show.

Could you please check to see if you have a coloured Falkner House Nursery t-shirt at home?

Thank you.
