This week we focused on the contemporary British artist and sculptor Andy Goldsworthy who uses natural materials and surroundings to create huge pieces of land art in the environment.

Under the stairs our nook became a hidden woodland in which to create our own land art with a large selection of natural treasures.

In the number room the children were introduced to the concept of patterns and enjoyed continuing a pattern and creating their own, both with shapes and natural resources and physical actions.

On Wednesday and Thursday, fun was had by all, both from spectators and participants during Nursery’s annual sports day. A big thank you to Mrs Gardner and Miss Underwood! It was wonderful having parents, grandparents and carers come and support the children.

In the letter room we focused on the sound ‘v’. Volcanos were both created in art and in experiments using baking soda, red food colouring and vinegar. Those who wished, added the ingredients to our mountains then stood back to watch our volcanos erupt!

In the corner of the room the dinosaurs came back to visit. They roamed freely around and under the volcano in harmony, that was until the feathered velociraptor ventured out from the phonic treasure box and joined in the fun.
