This week we continued focusing on the artist Frida Kahlo. Inspired by her art and stories written about her, such as ‘Frida Kahlo: Little People, Big Dreams’, by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and ‘Frida Kahlo Animalitos’, by Monica Brown, the children created their own ‘Frame’ by painting their self-portraits and decorating their works of art with flowers.

Under the stairs, La Casa Azul, continued to be a big hit. Many parties were enjoyed in Frida’s blue home!

In the number room we focused on the shape semi circles. Fun, imagination and creativity could be seen and heard coming from the shape tray where the semi circles and half spheres were transformed into cakes, towns and ephemeral art.

In the letter room we focused on the sound ‘x’. The letter corner became a hub of activity where doctors tended to the injured and discussed their findings as they pondered over patients x-rays in the radiology department. We had a very special patient pop down to Nursery from Year One, Miss Condon delighted the doctors on duty by inviting those who wished to listen to her baby’s heartbeat.

On Tuesday, we will celebrate Falkner House’s Pet Day. In the morning, children are welcome to bring their pets into the playground for the pet parade starting promptly at 8.45am.

Both morning and afternoon children are welcome to come to Nursery dressed as an animal of their choosing.
