We started the week celebrating Burns day. We all had a fun filled day learning about Scotland and Robbie Burns. The children learnt the first verse of the poem ‘Red, Red Rose’ and ate Scottie dog shortbread biscuits for snack. We then finished off the morning and afternoon sessions energetically dancing a reel to ‘The Dashing White Sergeant’!
During the week we focused on the fairy tale, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We looked at original stories from authors like Vera Southgate and F. Rogankovsky and a few newer versions of the story with alternative endings such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs’, by Mo Willems.
We had a creative week with the children retelling and re-enacting the original story and creating their own versions in the ‘three bears house’ under the stairs and with the doll’s house bears home.
The children enjoyed making paper plate bear faces and playing with oats, measuring, sorting sizes and counting.
