This week we focused on ladybirds. The children explored the lifecycle of these insects and we learnt why gardeners love them: they eat aphids! In their yearlong life, ladybirds can eat more than 5000 aphids and as a larva they can eat around 400!
We were inspired by Paul Klee’s Red Bridge and created a Mr Men and Little Miss village under the stairs.
In the letter room we looked at words, objects and friends’ names with the sound ‘x’. We sorted beginning and end sounds, such as x-ray fish and fox. The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in the doctors’ surgery and making their own x-ray craft.
We had a very special treat on Friday. Reception have been talking about life cycles and have been nurturing duck eggs. This week the ducklings hatched and Reception invited Nursery to come and see them.
