We continued to focus on the amazing insect, honeybees. We discussed the importance of bees and how they help fruit and vegetables grow through pollination. We spoke about the different things we can do to help the bees, as without them, many plants and creatures would disappear.

The children listened to Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ and learnt the ‘wiggle dance’ that bees do to communicate to the other bees. Thankfully bees communicate this message well, our ‘bees’ on the other hand, were laughing so much that the directions to where the flowers were may have become a bit muddled!

We had another fun filled week playing in the ‘beehive’ under the stairs, tending to the babies and keeping the hive tidy.

In the number room we focused on semi circles. Fun, imagination and creativity could be seen and heard coming from the shape mirror tray where the semi circles and half spheres were transformed into cakes, and towns.

In the letter room the teddy bears had a wonderful picnic in the park. Outside, there was much excitement when the children discovered our new mud kitchen.

On Friday we celebrated Falkner House Pet Day. There was a great selection of cats and dogs of varying heights and breeds, along with peacock chicks joining this year’s parade. Nursery’s ‘two legged’ fury, feathered and scaly creatures showed off their plumage, soft coats, tails and pointed or floppy ears down stairs.
