We started the week celebrating St Patrick’s Day! To our delight, an Irish band came to play and sing to us in the morning. The children had a lot of fun playing in the castle with the leprechaun who came to visit with his pot of gold. We enjoyed a day of potato waffles, stories about leprechauns, shamrocks, Irish music and creating green works of art.
This week we focused on the season ‘spring’. We explored what we can see, hear, taste and feel in this fresh season full of new life and growth. We looked at the changes of the season, prompting the arrival of springtime animal babies. The children created stories around the small world farm animals and matched and named mother and baby animals.
In the letter room we focused on the weather this season brings. Everyone painted their own water coloured rainbow. The children were introduced to what weather conditions are required for us to see this wonderful sight. We focused on the colours of the spectrum – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, through song and stories.
