In Nursery we continued our autumn topic discovering what wild animals do in autumn and how they prepare for the winter season. This week we focused on animals that migrate, such as whales and Canada geese and animals that hibernate in the United Kingdom.

In keeping with our topic, the weather turned, and to the delight of the morning classes on Wednesday, we watched with laughter and excitement as the snow fell!

We enjoyed matching the animals, minibeasts, reptiles and amphibians with their hibernating habitats and making and finding homes for the hibernators in woods under the stairs.

This week we moulded clay into round-ish shapes and added lots of match sticks creating very spiky hedgehogs. Once dried, the children made a nest each for their hedgehogs to hibernate in at home.
