This week we continued our harvest topic, naming and sorting seasonal fruit and vegetables. We explored where different fruit and vegetables grow, underground, on the ground or above.
In the letter room, we focused on the ultimate harvest tale, ‘The Enormous Turnip’. Variations of the tale were read and told using story props. The children had a lot of fun acting out the story and re-telling their version to their friends.
From laughter to quiet uncertainty and smiles to grimaces, a lot of emotions were experienced whilst taking part in the sensory experience of exploring the inside and outside of pumpkins. Those who were keen, collected seeds in in amongst the fibrous strands. More were eager to add jug fills, cup fills and spoons fills of water to make ‘pumpkin soup’!
A big thank you to Sahani’s mother, Mrs Kansagra who came to introduce the festive celebration Diwali on Wednesday morning.
A big thank you also to everyone who came to Nursery’s open day on Friday. The children were very excited to show parents, grandparents, siblings and their nannies ‘their world’, the activities they enjoy in Nursery and of course their art in their folders and on the walls.
Half term: 20th October – 31st October
Half term has arrived, this is a good opportunity to take plenty of rest. We would strongly encourage children to practice putting on their own shoes and socks during this time.
The Nursery team wish you all a wonderful half term break and we look forward to hearing all about your adventures when Nursery starts again Monday 3rd November.
