This week we continued to focus on Andy Goldsworthy and his ephemeral art. With books such as Nature is an Artist, by Jennifer Lavallee and I am an Artist, by Nikki Slade Robinson, we saw art could be created using both natural and manmade materials and how nature inspires many artists including Nursery!
The afternoon classes had an amazing time on Monday at Kensington Gardens and enjoyed an Andy Goldsworthy nature inspired adventure. We followed a young friendly squirrel down ‘Squirrel Lane’ who led us in the direction of the perfect place to create our own pieces of land art. We continued on in search for just the right area for our picnic before heading back to the coach.
In the number room we continued focusing on patterns. We revisited the concept of what makes a pattern and enjoyed the challenge of completing and making more complex ones. We looked at the number ten by painting our hand in Wimbledon colours!
A lot of laughter could be heard coming from the letter room as we found and matched words that rhymed, both sensible and nonsense words!
