Over the week we continued focusing on ‘Oceans’. After reading ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’, by Sarah Roberts, we discussed what we could do to help protect our oceans, from reusing and recycling and tidying up after ourselves when we visit the beach.
Our ‘ocean’ continued to be very popular. A lot of imagination, laughter and fun was had under the stairs!
In the number room the children explored a tray of seashells, looking at the patterns, shapes and textures and of course putting shells up to their ears to see if they could ‘hear the sea’.
Everyone took part in painting pasta shells to create a sandy beach with five washed up seashells.
In the letter room we focused on ‘j’. There was a lot of laughter and anticipation as the handle of the jack-in-the-box was wound around before jumping out to surprise us all.
We discovered how amazing jellyfish are whilst reading ‘I am Jellyfish’, by Ruth Paul. With thin paintbrushes and sponge semicircles, everyone made their own and very individual jellyfish.
