This week we focused on the changing of seasons between autumn and winter. As the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, the sun gets lower and the weather feels colder. Winter is coming! This led to discussions of ‘What does winter look like?’, ‘What does it feel like?’,
‘What does it sound like?’
Inspired by the book ‘The Mitten’ by Jan Brett we enjoyed a week of creative role play. The children re-enacted the story both with the small world animals in the letter room and the animal masks in our snowy nook under the stairs.
I am sure you have all heard snippets of the songs we have been practising for our Christmas show. There was great excitement as the children found out what group they will be in and started making their hats for our show.
The festive craft continued throughout the week. After reading the charming book, ‘Little Robin Red Vest’, by Jan Fearnley everyone made their own robin decoration. On Friday, the Christmas tree was delivered. Christmas has ‘arrived’ in Nursery!
On Tuesday 3rd December we have our dress rehearsals and on Friday 6th December we will perform our Christmas show for the parents. Please can the children be well rested for their mini productions! Thank you.
Request: With the chillier weather, the children are needing more layers. Could all these extra layers of clothing please come with the children’s own name.
Please could all named gloves and mittens come attached to coats, either by elastic, ribbon or clips. Thank you.
