This week we focused on ‘Our Community’. With a variation on the song ‘Who are the People in Your Neighbourhood’, we discussed ‘who do we meet when we’re walking down the street’, who help us, support us and keep us safe. From family, friends and neighbours, to those who help us in Nursery, bus and taxi drivers, posties, shopkeepers, doctors, police and firefighters to name a few. Many people make up our community!

On Monday we watched ‘The Poppy Story, An Introduction for Early Years’ explaining Remembrance Day. We reintroduced the poem ‘Poppy, Poppy’ and in the morning the children observed two minutes silence during music. We ended the session listening to the charming story ‘Anzac Ted’, by Belinda Landsberry.

The area under the stairs continued to be a huge hit. Depending who was playing in our nook, the area became a home, hotel, picnic area and tea house.

In the letter room the children performed variations of the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ with the puppet theatre and created communities with the Play Mobile people.
