This week we focused on our bodies. We discussed how we can keep our body and mind healthy: food, exercise, being kind to our friends and sharing our feelings.

There were a lot of delighted faces when Fred, the skeleton, came to visit Nursery. With help from Fred, the children were introduced to the names of some of the bones in our bodies. We talked about what our bodies would be like if we had no bones and what are some of the important organs that our bones protect, such as our brain, heart and lungs.

The corner in the letter room became a medical centre. The children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as doctors and nurses! They dutifully tended to their patients, occasionally referring to the x-rays for ‘confirmation’, whilst helping those feeling poorly.

In the number room we looked at what our bodies have two of, such as two knees. There was ticklish squirming and giggles as children had their feet painted; creating two footprints.

Under the stairs, our ‘nook’ became the home of ‘The Three Bears’ and this time Goldilocks brought her friends! The children were kept very busy ironing, dusting and mopping up after these furry residents and their visitors – tidy house, tidy mind!
