This week we focused on ladybirds. The children explored the lifecycle of these insects and we learnt why gardeners love them: they eat aphids!

We were inspired by Paul Klee’s Red Bridge and created a Mr Men and Little Miss village under the stairs.

In the letter room we looked at words, objects and friends’ names with the sound ‘x’. We sorted beginning and end sounds, such as x-ray fish and fox. The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in the doctors’ surgery and making their own x-ray craft.

We have five new additions in Nursery, caterpillars! There was great excitement as these tiny minibeasts were carefully passed around in the safety of their pot. Over the next few weeks we will observe their growth and amazing metamorphosis as they change from caterpillars to butterflies.
