This week we continued focusing on our last fairy tale of the term, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The Giant’s Castle continued to be very popular, likewise the story tray. The children retold and re-enacted the familiar fairy tale and created their own versions using puppets and dolls alongside story props and books. Various versions of ‘Fee fi fo fum’ could be heard coming from inside the castle and the number room.

Our herbs are thriving in the Plant Nursery as too our bean plants. There has been great excitement and anticipation as the seeds we planted, germinated. With care and the help of a sprinkling of water and sunlight we have watched the first seedling leaves as our plants begin to grow!

Ahead of St Patrick’s Day everyone painted a picture of a rainbow. The children were introduced what weather conditions are required for us to see this wonderful sight. We focused on the colours of the spectrum – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, through song, stories and rainbow experiments!

Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day! To our delight, an Irish band came to play and sing to us in the morning. The children had a lot of fun playing in the sensory story tray with the leprechaun who came to visit with his pot of gold. We enjoyed a day of potato waffles, stories about leprechauns, shamrocks, Irish music and creating green works of art.
