This week we focused on the fairy tale ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We looked at original stories from authors like Vera Southgate and Rebecca Hu-Van Write and a different version of the story, ‘The Troll’, by Julia Donaldson.
Along with our number and letter related songs of the week, everyone particularly enjoyed the song ‘There Once Was a Troll, Who Guarded a Bridge’. Singing was muffled as laughter overtook whilst we performed the very ‘active’ action song!
Under the stairs our nook became the home of the Gruffs. The children constructed bridges in varying heights, lengths, designs and stability for the goats to cross as they retold the story.
There was lots of giggles and growls coming from the number room as the children re-enacted the fairy tale creating their own versions with the story tray and built homes for the much-loved original 80’s troll dolls!
In the letter room, the garden was also very popular! Shoes were quickly removed, wellies put on as children tended to the plants.
On Friday 1st March, we celebrate Founder’s Day, the schools 70th Anniversary! Everyone is invited to dress for the theme ‘The Olympics’.
