This week we focused on spiders. The children explored the life cycle of these arachnids and we learnt that most spiders are completely harmless to humans. We discovered how important and helpful are these eight-legged minibeast, feasting on the insects we consider pests.
Under the stairs our ‘nook’ became home to Eric Carle’s ‘Very Busy Spider’ and all her farm friends. In the letter room, the veterinarian surgery was also very popular. The vets were kept busy with many poorly pets!
Volcanos were both created in art and in experiments using baking soda, red food colouring and vinegar. Those who wished, added the ingredients to our mountains then stood back to watch our volcanos erupt!
On Wednesday and Thursday, fun was had by all, both from spectators and participants during Nursery’s annual sports event. A big thank you to Mrs Gardner and Miss Tucker! It was wonderful having parents, grandparents and carers come and support the children.
During the week the afternoon children had a wonderful treat. Reception has been the home for a brood of ducklings that arrived and hatched only last week. Those who wished were invited to gently hold these one-week old babies, while others who wanted to watch their friends with the ducklings were equally delighted by the experience.
