This week we have been focusing on Harvest and the types of fruit and vegetables we find during Autumn.

There was a lot of activity in the home corner as it became a farmer’s market to sell and buy baked goods and home-grown seasonal fruit and vegetables.

Our colour of the week caused sparks of delight which led a variety of activities including colour mixing our own shades of purple, creating the backings for our art.

The tent in the letter room proved to be very popular as the children shared the space with teddy bears having tea parties. Inspired by the book ‘Kippers Monster’, by Mick Inkpin, the lights were turned off, the blinds came down and the torches came out to make shadows on the walls and search for our sound treasures around the classroom.

There was much excitement on Wednesday as we took the school bus from Brechin Place to Kensington Gardens for our autumn adventure. Fun was had by all as we searched for and collected natural treasures we found in the park. To the delight of both the children and their teachers we came upon fallen trees. Most clambered up and either walked or crawled along the trunk before leaping off the end. We enjoyed spotting parakeets and crows, the odd spider web and watching the squirrels digging in the ground and racing up trees.
