This week we continued to explore the changing colours we see in autumn. We experimented with mixing primary colours together to create secondary colours with our hands, creating wonderful handprints.

We focused on the green colour monster, embracing the feeling ‘calm’ that this monster embodies. The children explored the sensory tray with green semiprecious stones and shapes hidden in and amongst smooth green lentils that make the sound of rain when poured into the tray. Not as calming maybe, but extremely enjoyable, was the soothing sensation of ‘green slime’ oozing between fingers.

A big thank you to everyone who collected and brought in bags of autumn leaves this week! The most fun has been ‘j’ for jumping into these leaves. From jumping into mounds of leaves in Nursery’s courtyard, to leaping from the boxes in the playground. We have all thoroughly enjoyed the many activities your leaf hunts enabled us to do!

On Friday, ahead of harvest, we baked delicious apple tarts thanks to Dimitry and his family’s apple picking haul last weekend.
