This week we focused on the contemporary British artist and sculptor Andy Goldsworthy who uses natural materials and surroundings to create huge pieces of land art in the environment.
Under the stairs our nook became a hidden woodland in which to create our own land art with a large selection of natural treasures.
In the number room the children were introduced to the concept of patterns and enjoyed continuing a pattern and creating their own, both with shapes and natural resources and physical actions.
In the letter room we focused on the sound ‘e’. We explored and matched the creatures that hatch from eggs with their parents, not always an easy task, especially when matching insect families.
On Wednesday and Thursday, fun was had by all, both from spectators and participants during Nursery’s annual sports day. A big thank you to Miss Mulloy, Mrs Gardner and Miss Tucker! It was wonderful having parents, grandparents and carers come and support the children.
The morning classes all had an amazing time on Friday at Kensington Gardens and enjoyed an Andy Goldsworthy nature inspired adventure. We explored fallen trees and tramped through long grass to find the perfect place to create our own pieces of land art. After tidying our creations, we continued on in search for just the right area for our picnic before heading back to the coach.
