We started the week celebrating St Patrick’s Day! To our delight, an Irish band came to play and sing to us in the morning. The children had a lot of fun playing in the sensory story tray with the leprechaun who came to visit with his wheelbarrow of gold. We enjoyed a day of potato waffles, stories about leprechauns, shamrocks, Irish music and creating green works of art.

This week we focused on the season ‘spring’. We explored what we can see, hear, taste and feel in this fresh season full of new life and growth. We looked at the changes of the season, prompting the arrival of springtime animal babies. The children created stories around the soft toy woodland animals and their babies which moved into the forest under the stairs. Whilst in the number room, the children matched and named mother and baby farm animals.

In the letter room we focused on the weather this season brings. Everyone painted their own water coloured umbrella. Incy Wincy spider and his family all came out to play and were repeatedly washed down the water spouts by the rain cloud and sieves.

During the week we had a lot of fun in our morning and afternoon cross-country races. The big girls got involved, loudly cheering the children on, as Nursery raced laps around the playground.
